From our roots as a mission and outreach center, St. Martha’s campus is home to "Mission Lexington" (medical clinic) and "Family Counseling Service". St. Martha’s members are active volunteers at "God’s Pantry Food Bank", "Pyramid Professional Resources" (job resources for the homeless), "Habitat for Humanity", "Reading Camp", "Camp Haven"(day camp for the children of incarcerated parents), "Episcopal Prison Ministries", "The Hope Center", "Church Under the Bridge", and many more.
Besides work done by church members individually and as a community, St. Martha’s has committed from its beginnings to set aside at least ten percent of our annual budget first for mission and outreach projects consistent with our mission statement, in our local community and throughout the world. In past years, this money has been made available to support food pantries in central and eastern Kentucky, child development projects in Lexington, and medical and educational projects in Central America, Asia, and Africa.
St. Martha’s has had an ongoing relationship with "Family Health Ministries" and their work at "St. Antoine’s School and "Orphanage" in Haiti. Since the earthquakes of January, 2010, that relationship has become closer and more vital, as St. Martha’s has raised thousands of dollars toward the rebuilding of infrastructure in Haiti.
Our Mission and Outreach commission meets monthly to keep up with ongoing projects and to discern new places where our help is needed. Contact the church if you have questions. |
