History

Around 2004, the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington came into possession of a parcel of land and buildings at the corner of Trent Boulevard and River Park Drive, a former residential facility for developmentally disabled adults. Bishop Sauls asked the Rev. Bonnie Quantrell Jones to oversee the development of the property as a center for social service ministries; Bonnie agreed, with the condition that she would plant a worshipping community at the site as well.

That worshipping community developed into St. Martha’s, and became an official parish of the Diocese of Lexington on February 19, 2006.

Since then, the people of St. Martha’s have worked hard to fulfill that initial mission to be a place of ministry to this neighborhood, to our wider community, and to the world. Bonnie retired in 2009, and the work of St. Martha’s goes on.
